Can´t remember where I found this picture but it is a Ridgeback from way back. Dogs name (I think) Utisha-of-the-Heightfinden.
Taken from Hutchinson's Dog Enc. , you may want to copy so you can magnify this photo!
I thought I'd share this photo I found while helping my daughter with her Historical Figure report on Helen Keller...shows Helen with what looks to me like a ridgeback...she was a true dog lover and had various dog breeds throughout her life, but no mention of a ridgeback.
Would love to find out if it was one.
CH KAJONGWE'S HUNTER'S MOON
Gloria Sanders of Texas imported many RR from Mpani Kennels and Major Hawley, she told me that the male she imported weighed around 100 pounds and females were 85-90. Her kennel name was Kajongwe, and the old time breeders in the United States know this line well, many have said it was the line that instilled the "drive" in the Ridgebacks!! Anyone with Kajongwe lines please contact me personally!
One of the dogs Mylda Arsensis (Mpani Kennels) sent to Ms. Betty Littejohn. Breeder of my Ruby, Ms. Pat did show some of her grandmother's dogs. This is Champion Mpani's Mashona of Mashaba HA 75705 11-9-1965
My first Ridgeback Pearl, taken in 1981.
Pearl was the first Ridgeback i had ever seen. I recall she was sold to my Dad for £80 as a non show quality pup,as the breeder said she had too much white.Pearl was a huge part of my childhood and when she passed on it was the first time i ever saw my Dad cry.
Indoena van de Tafelbaai, out of the second litter in the Netherlands came to live with my mother in 1953. Since then her heart was taken by the Ridgebacks and she passed that on to me!
Mrs Goedhart Bakker-Hofbauer with the two imports
Indoena en Ntombi In-Goyama bred by Mr De Geus from Ermelo South Africa. picture is taken in October 1947 just before they were shipped to the Netherlands. They were half brother and halfsister and were mated twice in the Netherlands. Those were the two very first litters in the Netherlands.
